West Peninsular Self Drive Tour (12D/11N)
Explore the entire breath of the West Peninsular Malaysia as you drive through the country's roads.
MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR
For those of you who are not into typical traditional tours, then this self drive tour is definitely recommended. Traverse the many cities, islands and natural attractions that cover Peninsular Malaysia. This promotional package includes hotel accommodation with breakfast, airport transfers and the car rental with GPS.
Among the many places that you will get to explore include Kuala Lumpur, Taman Negara National Park, Cameron Highlands, Kuala Kangsar, Penang, and Langkawi. Here are some suggestions on how to occupy your time at some of these places.
Sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur is a must if it is your first time to the city. The city boasts a mix of modern skyscrapers and colonial era buildings, many of which have its own distinct architecture. These buildings trace the city's evolution from a tin mining town to its present status of a capital city. Some must see sights include the Petronas Twin Towers – the tallest twin towers in the world, Jamek Mosque – built where Kuala Lumpur originally began, and many more.
Taman Negara National Park is the country's oldest national park. It stretches across 3 states, Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu and is the world's oldest rainforest. Return to your roots and commune with nature during your visit.
Cameron Highlands is renowned for the many tea plantations and farms that produce fresh produce. During the British colonial era, it served as the main highland getaway for foreigners who were not accustomed to the tropical weather. Be sure to check out the various farms at Cameron, including the strawberry farm, the butterfly farm, and the honeybee farm. Also do not miss taking a stroll through the tea plantation and factory.
Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of Perak state, and is the ancestral seat of the Perak royal family. Among the highlights there is the Ubudiah Mosque, Istana Iskandariah, and Sultan Azlan Shah Gallery, which houses the Sultan of Perak's collection. All these sites are located atop Chandan Hill in Kuala Kangsar.
Penang Island's most recent tourist attaction is also its oldest – the heritage city of Georgetown. Georgetown, together with Malacca Town, was listed as a World Heritage City in 2008 and still enjoys this status. The many heritage buildings are a key feature of this city, but it is the living heritage – the people, the traditional arts and crafts – that truly make it unique.
Then it is off to Langkawi, the archipelago of 99 islands and the premier beach destination of the country. Langkawi is blessed with pristine waters and beautiful beaches. While at Langkawi, do take the opportunity to see some of these beautiful islands, including Dayang Bunting Island, which boasts of a truly stunning lake. Legend has it that the lake is the abode of a mythical white crocodile and those who wish to concieve will be blessed with children if they drank the lake's water or bathed in it.
