Penang has been promoting its living heritage in the recent years by organising cultural events during major celebrations. Yasuyo and I have no actual plans to take a walk along one of Penang’s famed heritage trails today. We had actually decided to spend some time at Little India, which is also in the heritage area of inner city Georgetown, but we did not plan to do a walkabout.

We are on the CAT (Georgetown city’s free shuttle from KOMTAR to the jetty) passing the Cititel hotel on the way to KOMTAR when I suddenly ask Yasuyo if she’d like to visit the tailor to get a custom-made blouse.

Malaysia: Too Hot To Be Cool?

Kinabalu Park has added a new attraction, the Kinabalu World Heritage Site Gallery, just this December as part of its 10th anniversary celebration as a World Heritage Site. This information centre showcases the unique features of the park and its rich biodiversity, key attributes that led to its initial listing 10 years before. The gallery includes three major sections, including a three dimensional display of the park, a diorama landscape of the parks biodiversity, and information regarding the park’s listing as a World Heritage Site.
