Peninsular Island Hopping Self Drive Tour (12D/11N)
Marvel at the beauty of Malaysia's islands as you drive your way through Peninsular Malaysia.
MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR
For those of you who are not into typical traditional tours, this self-drive tour is definitely recommended. Some of Malaysia's beautiful islands are the highlight of this tour, including the lesser known Banding Island, surrounded by one of the largest man-made lakes in the country. This promotional package includes hotel accommodations with breakfast, airport transfers and car rental with GPS.
Your tour begins in Kuala Lumpur and includes islands like Tioman Island, Perhentian Island, Banding Island and Penang Island. These islands contain numerous attractions that will capture your imagination as you encounter them. Here are some suggestions on how to occupy your time at some of these places.
Sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur is a must if it is your first time to the city. The city boasts a mix of modern skyscrapers and colonial era buildings, many of which have its own distinct architecture. These buildings trace the city's evolution from a tin mining town to its present status of a capital city. Some must see sights include the Petronas Twin Towers – the tallest twin towers in the world, Jamek Mosque – built where Kuala Lumpur originally began, and many more.
Tioman Island is a beautiful island that lies off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. There are many lovely white sandy beaches, each offering something unique to visitors. The water that surrounds the island is crystal clear, with numerous dive sites featuring coral reefs and an astounding array of marine life.
Banding Island is a lesser known island that is set right in the middle of a large man-made lake and surrounded by one of the oldest rainforests in the world. The area encompasses what is regarded by the public as the Temenggor-Belum forest and is still very much unexplored by visitors. Jungle trekking and hunts for the elusive Rafflesia flower are highlights for any visitor there.
Penang Island's most recent tourist attraction is also its oldest – the heritage city of Georgetown. Georgetown, together with Malacca Town, was listed as a World Heritage City in 2008 and still enjoys this status. The many heritage buildings are a key feature of this city, but it is the living heritage – the people, the traditional arts and crafts – that truly make it unique.
