A traveller once said that what really makes a journey truly memorable was not where you went, but the people you meet and travel with. We learnt the truth of this statement during the Kembara Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia to Perak trip recently. We learnt that a grand palace filled with the finest finishings is nothing but a hollow meaningless artifice without the man who gifted it to his people as a museum; that a simple humble lunch turns into a joyous feast when affection and warmth are its main ingredients; and a simple media trip to Perak brings with it a trove of treasured memories just because of a bunch of complete strangers.

Georgetown Festival – Tapestry of Culture Day 3
Today is the last day of the Georgetown Festival celebrations that was happening around the city area. The last two days had seen thousands of people, both tourists and locals alike, swarming the city area to participate in the activities and cultural performances that went on. Though not many cultural performances are scheduled to happen today, I would not be surprised if I still find lots of tourists and locals hanging around the city centre to catch any of today’s events.
Georgetown Festival – Tapestries of Culture Day 2
The second day of the festival started out a little bit more toned down compared to the first day. I guess it is always good to start something with a bang. Ever since I saw the brochure, one of the major events that I felt I had to catch was the Teochew puppet show performance. I have never had the chance to see such a show, one of the disadvantages of growing up in a big city. Cultural themed performances like the Chinese opera that is usually performed during the Chinese 7th month or even puppet shows like this are a rarity in the city. As this particular performance is scheduled to happen throughout the whole three days of the festival, I decided to schedule the visit to the second day.
Georgetown Festival – Tapestry of Cultures Day 1
There is always something about culture related events that never fails to catch my attention. Maybe it is the anticipation of discovering new things about our diverse culture… or maybe it is the colourful costumes and lively music that never fails to capture my attention. When I saw an article on the upcoming cultural events that will be taking place from the 7th till 9th July, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to catch some of the interesting events that were scheduled to happen during that time.
Step Into A Magical Musical World

The musical traces the lives of six aspiring performers who come together at a Broadway audition in New York and become fast friends. Their world is literally a giant stage, and they find themselves willing actors on it, dancing to whatever tune Fate has in store for them.
