This package allows you to appreciate one of Borneo's most pristine rainforests, Danum Valley. Marvel at earth's beauty as you walk through lush rainforests previously untouched by man and get close to some of Borneo's unique wildlife!
Day 1: Lahad Datu to Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Danum Valley
The adventure begins with a 2.5 hour drive from Lahad Datu to Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Danum Valley. In the afternoon, take a jungle walk that heads towards the canopy walkway. Get an entirely different view of the rainforest as you traverse the treetop trail. Then, wrap up the evening with a night drive to view some of the nocturnal animals that live in the valley, weather permitting.
Day 2: In Danum Valley
Be prepared to dedicate the entire day to nature as you explore Danum Valley, home to over 275 different species of birds and rare animals like the Sumatra Rhinoceros, elephants and orang utans. Begin by visiting an ancient Kadazandusun tribe burial site located on a cliff face within the valley, and then admire a panoramic view of Danum Valley from the 'View Point'. Luxuriate at the Jacuzzi Pool and refresh yourself with a dip in the surrounding rock pools if it takes your fancy before returning for lunch at the lodge.
Other optional activities that might be of interest include water tubing in Danum River and trekking along Segama River. In the evening, you could elect to go on a night walk around the lodge to get close with some nocturnal animals.
Day 3: Danum Valley to Lahad Datu
Take a final trek through the rainforest along the Segama Trail or Hornbill Trail in the morning. Bid farewell to Danum Valley and head for Lahad Datu for your flight to Kota Kinabalu.
