MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR
This package offers you the opportunity to get wet at Lankayan Island, a tiny yet breathtaking island in the Sulu Sea. Bask in the tranquility of an isolated island paradise and then plunge into the ocean to see a myriad of undersea creatures living among the coral and sunken wrecks. If you are lucky, you might even spot one of the largest creatures of the seas, the whale shark.
Day 1: Sandakan to Lankayan Island
Your vacation begins when you board a boat at the Sandakan jetty after being picked up at the airport. Relax and enjoy the view of the sea as you cruise for about an hour and a half towards Lankayan Island. Settle in and have lunch upon your arrival at Lankayan Island Dive Resort.
In the afternoon, you will have a briefing session before commencing with your first orientation dive and a boat dive. In the evening, relax and unwind at the bar or take a night stroll along the beach.
Day 2 and 3: At Lankayan Island
You will be able to enjoy two full days of diving, with three boat dives daily and unlimited shore dives for those who just want more! If you are there during June to September, you might have a chance to watch turtle hatchlings being released into the sea, as Lankayan Island is a turtle nesting ground.
Day 4: Departing Lankayan Island
You bid goodbye to the island in the morning as you head to Sandakan by boat. Your destination after your arrival is the well known Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Initially set up to rehabilitate orphaned orang utans in 1964, this centre has developed into a major draw for tourists, allowing a window into the life of the orang utan.
