This is my favourite hotel to check into when I first arrive in Malaysia simply because of the ease of access.
Get off the plane at KLIA, hop on the Express train to KL Sentral and a short walk acr...oss the street that separates KL Sentral from the hotel complex will get you to the reception desk in 30 minutes barring any snafus with baggage and immigration.
I'm a big fan of the sleek lines used in the room design, the rainshower, the glass walls, and really couldn't find anything I'd improve on.
The staff is always helpful and one frontdesk lady even gave me a list of her favourite places to check out in Langkawi when I told her that was my next stop.
Staying here doesn't give you any kind of a taste of the "real" Malaysia, but it is a great location in the middle of the city close to all the transport options, including the monorail that cuts through the densest part of Kaula Lumpur, an area I'd not recommend driving in.

A really awesome place to stay! A great option for first time travelers to Malaysia.
We were upgraded to a larger/nicer suite upon arrival and once we got up to the 25th floor - let me tell you the... view of downtown KL was breathtaking.
The room itself had a chic, modern decor, and all the amenities one could need for business/pleasure. Internet was a bit slow, but the large LCD TV made for some great viewings of Conan the Barbarian =P - a Malaysian classic of course.
A tad pricey for those travelers on a budget, but if you can afford it - you won't be disappointed.
