Kuala Lumpur Aquaria KLCC
This amazing marine aquarium offers its visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the mysteries of the sea without even getting their feet wet!
MORE ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Billing itself as an ocean of discovery, Aquaria KLCC is a unique attraction located within the KLCC precinct. Occupying a total of 60,000 square feet, the aquarium is spread throughout the concourse level of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It is among the few aquariums in the country and by virtue of its location, the most famous.
The aquarium contains over five thousand specimens of aquatic and land animals from around the world. A total of nearly 150 different species are on show, carefully distributed among its ten main display areas. The more notable of the animals at the aquarium include the Sand Tiger Shark, the Green Sea Turtle and the Giant Blotched Fantail Ray, which are billed as the Stars of Aquaria. The aquarium is laid out to simulate the so-called journey of water, from the highlands, through the jungles and coastal areas, and finally to the shallow seas and the deep ocean. To the aquarium's credit, this gradual introduction allows visitors to immerse themselves into the largely unknown marine world, discovering how the many different species exist alongside one another in an interconnective system as they wander through each area.
The areas of the aquarium are colourfully named to evoke an atmosphere of excitement. Visitors begin at Evolution, discovering the beginning of marine life, and move through the Jewels of the Jungle and Flooded Forests till they reach The Coast before progressing to The Deep. Then it is time to enter the Living Oceans, the centrepiece of the aquarium. The largest display at the aquarium, the Living Oceans also features a shipwreck, though most visitors will be busy admiring the sharks and other deep sea animals on display there. Daily feeding shows by divers in the aquarium, especially those involving the sharks, are highly anticipated affairs and quite a sight to behold.
The Aquaria KLCC is located at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, which is part of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre precinct. The precinct is is located at the junction of Jalan Ampang and Jalan P. Ramlee, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is well connected and is easily accessible by road.
There are many intracity buses that include KLCC as a stop on their routes.
By Light Rail Transit
Visitors can get to Aquaria KLCC via the Kelana Jaya LRT line as there is an LRT station located within Suria KLCC, located just beside the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
