The Federal Territory of Putrajaya is unique as it is the only region of Malaysia to be totally planned. Conceptualized as an “Intelligent Garden City”, the country's new administrative capital is divided into 19 precincts, linked together by a series of bridges that cross parts of Putrajaya Lake. The city features beautifully designed buildings which are interspersed with wide open areas and parks, surrounded by a scenic artificial lake.

Putrajaya's main attractions are the grand and imposing buildings as well as the associated architecture, including eight stunning bridges of different designs. The eight parks spread all around have different themes and showcases the diversity of Malaysian natural beauty. Visitors to Putrajaya will be amazed at the beauty of this city, including the grandeur of some of its signature buildings, like the pink-domed Putra Mosque, and the stately Perdana Putra, a moghul inspired complex housing the offices of the Prime Minister.

Lake Putrajaya is touted as Putrajaya's centrepiece, meandering throughout the various precincts. Cruises are available for visitors to view the city from a totally different perspective, and even offer an evening luxury cruise showcasing a dinner as you tour the sights of Putrajaya.

Putrajaya hosts a number of international events yearly, using its beautiful landscaped surroundings to complement and enhance the nature of the event. One such event is the Hot Air Balloon Festival held at the open grounds of the city.

Putrajaya, being Malaysia's newest and only planned city, has an extensive road network that links it to nearby Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur and also boasts of an efficient and state of the art train service. While the city has no airport within its city limits, it is serviced by the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Bus service

Bus services to Kuala Lumpur and its outlying areas as well as to the northern region and to east coast states are available at Putrajaya Sentral in Precinct 7.

Train service

Train service is offered at Putrajaya Sentral through the KLIA Transit service, which runs from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and stopping at Putrajaya Sentral along its way.

Although relatively new, Putrajaya is a lovely city with a lot to offer its visitors. The entire city is designed to provide an esthetic experience for tourists, with many of the administration buildings being architectural highlights in a tour around the city.

Lake Putrajaya

The beautiful and serene Lake Putrajaya is a dominant feature of the city, especially in Precinct 1. The entire city is actually built encompassing the lake, with waterways that meander through the various precincts. Many water events are held at the lake, and many visitors take the opportunity to view the entire city by taking a lake cruise.

Seri Perdana

An imposing complex incorporating Islamic, Malay and western influence, Seri Perdana spans across three blocks, each dedicated to a specific function. The official residence of the Malaysian Prime Minister is open for viewing to visitors through guided tours.
