Ipoh – Art

The city of Ipoh is home to galleries and museums intent on preserving its unique culture. As such, visitors can pick and choose from lots of options when it comes to art preservation and exhibition. Most of the city’s art galleries are in the Ipoh Old Town, including those housed as part of other, larger museum complexes. Modern art, including trick art galleries, are also available and make for a fun family outing.



Wisma Chye Hin

Located in the center of Ipoh’s Old Town, this museum and art venue includes more than 10,000 square feet of exhibition, retail and dining space. Focused on artwork between the 1940s and 1960s, Wisma Chye Hin includes a collection of indoor art murals. Promotion preserves the city’s creative heritage and brings the museum’s art to the next generation. Visitors can join guided tours which note the history and significance of each art piece. Easy to miss, the art museum is only two streets away from the Cititel Express Ipoh.

22 Hale Street Heritage Gallery

Located in Ipoh’s Old Town, the 22 Hale Street Heritage Gallery promotes the heritage of the city’s culture. Fitted in old shophouses that were built in the early 1900s, the venue includes a museum, event space, gift shop and café. The gallery includes various artefacts and works of art that are of cultural significance to Ipoh. Self-guided tours are available, as are guided experiences which last approximately 45 minutes. Visitors to the gift shop can pick up handcrafted items that are unique to the city of Ipoh.

Funtasy House Trick Art

An attraction for the whole family, the Funtasy House Trick Art features 20 unique works of art and illusion that allow for one-of-a-kind photo opportunities. Featuring an array of 3D murals and drawings, the gallery opened in 2015 and is operated by nine artists who collaborate in the development of new exhibits. Guides are available to help explain each work of art and assist with photo-taking. The museum is popular with both locals and visitors, including those with small children.
