Featuring exhibits and artefacts from Ipoh’s past, many of the museums immerse visitors in interactive exhibits. Many of the most popular museums are in the city center—the historical and cultural hub of Ipoh and a major focus for visitors.
Ho Yan Hor Museum
This museum is dedicated to Dr. Ho Kai Cheong, the founder of Ho Yan Hor. Founder of the household Chinese tea brand in 1941, the company originated in Ipoh. The museum is adjacent to the Han Chin Pet Soo museum and looks at the heritage of herbal tea. Inside the home of Dr. Ho’s tea, exhibits highlight his life and times, and include artefacts used in the original tea-making process. At the end of the tour, visitors will also have a chance to taste a selection of teas with different flavors.

Ipoh Geological Museum
Established in 1957, the Ipoh Geological Museum includes more than 300 square meters of exhibition space focused on the natural wonders surrounding the city. Divided into 7 zones, the museum is made up of various exhibits that showcase both geological and natural history. There is a section that includes exhibits on fossils and dinosaurs, as well as one that looks at the uses of minerals across the region. Other exhibits include those exploring various minerals and gemstones, mining activities, marine geology and geological hazards. The museum makes up part of the Minerals and Geoscience Department Complex of Ipoh.

Made in Ipoh
The Made in Ipoh museum focuses on the history and heritage of Ipoh. One of the city’s most popular museums, it includes various attractions, performances, tours and more and promotes itself as a museum of “edutainment”. Housed in a 115-year-old building, the museum includes various exhibits that focus on Ipoh’s heritage. The museum hosts alternating exhibitions: educational talks, events and performances with an eye on the city’s history, culture and art history. Visitors will deepen their understanding of the city’s background at immersive events, as well as revisit occurrences in Ipoh that helped frame modern day Malaysia.
