Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House

Named after Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofia, the opera house is the first of its kind in Johor Bahru. A masterpiece from one of China’s top property developers, the venue can fit up to 500 guests within a 114,430-square foot space. Opened in 2020, theatrical and artistic performances explore the various cultures of Malaysia and its people. It is also hired out year-round as a seminar and exhibition space for private clients.

Lee Wushu Arts Theatre

In the city center, the Lee Wushu Arts Theatre doubles as a performing arts theater and a Wushu learning center. Established in 1998, the center offers a large open arena for practitioners of Wushu, while regular performances honor the martial art. Located on the third floor of a commercial center, the facility is a staple for the Wushu and martial arts community of Johor Bahru with frequent classes, competitions, and performances for curious spectators. Wushu, also known as Kungfu, came from China to Malaysia at the height of Chinese immigration in the 19th century.

Big Fish Education

Big Fish Education is a local institution that puts the spotlight on theatrical performances starring children. With productions held across Johor Bahru, the center sees the development of parent-child education through theater and other artistic performances.
