Kwong Siew Heritage Gallery

Housed in the old headquarters of the Kwong Siew Clan Association, this gallery is home to various artefacts that conjure the everyday lived by Chinese immigrants who made Johor Bahru home in the 19th century. The fascinating collection includes various working tools, opera costumes, jewelry, opium pipes, photos and more. The Clan was originally established by prominent businessman, Wong Ah Fook. Open daily, minus Mondays, visitors can see priceless photos, documents and artefacts that remember the unforgettable Chinese heritage of Johor Bahru.

Pasir Gudang Kite Museum

Opened in 2002 during the city’s annual kite festival, this museum offers visitors the chance to see kites of all colors, shapes and sizes. It also includes materials used to promote the annual Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival. Exhibits are packed with local designs, as well as many international kites. Historical and modern styles compete with traditional Malay kites known as “Wau”. Eye-catching displays create a pleasant day out for all,  including those with children. The museum is busiest during the annual kite festival held yearly in Johor Bahru.

Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum

Inside a shophouse building, the Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum  catalogues a timeline of valuable contributions by the city’s Chinese immigrant community. Visitors to the museum can expect to find a collection bursting with details from  documents to artwork, photos, tools, furniture and more. The museum’s collections include pieces dating back to the 19th century when the first Chinese settlers started a lifetime in Johor Bahru. The museum includes four floors, with each floor representing a different historical phase.
