Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple
Simply referred to as the “Old Temple”, the Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple is one of the oldest structures in the entire city. It was established sometime in the 1870s in the city center and marks the unity of Johor Bahru’s Chinese ethnic groups. The temple houses several historical artefacts including a plaque and bronze bell. Five deities inside the temple indicate divine praise from multiple Chinese ethnicities—Teochew, Hokkien, Cantonese, Hakka and Hainanese, to name a few.

Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque
The state mosque of Johor, it was constructed between 1892 and 1900.The original design was inspired by English Victorian architecture and includes 19th century British style clock towers. Able to hold up to 2,000 people, the mosque is on Ledang Hill and faces the Tebrau Strait. Magnificent ornamental arches paired with Victorian and Moorish architecture give the building an exotic appeal. The top mosque in Johor Bahru, the venue is popular amongst Muslim worshippers, as well as visitors keen to photograph its exquisite design.

Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple
This glass temple is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Johor Bahru. Built in 1922, it is the last of its kind in Malaysia. Considered one of the city’s oldest Hindu temples, its architecture includes more than 300,000 fragments of colored glass that covers over 90% of the structure. Visitors can explore the temple’s countless ornamental elements, including giant murals, gold sculptures, and ten more marble statues. Modeled after deities and visionaries from Hindu.
