Kuala Lumpur offers green zones for those wishing to escape its concrete jungle. With a balmy tropical climate, the city’s green spaces cater for all, even birds and butterflies. This includes dense-green pockets dwarfed by the city’s soaring skyscrapers – like the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. So, it is no surprise that Kuala Lumpur’s parks are some of the largest in the world.
KLCC Park
A magnificent urban park besides the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC is an oasis for neighboring tenants and locals alike. Designed to celebrate the region’s tropical flora, it is a different world to the busy city center. The park features man-made objects blended with natural features: indigenous trees in their hundreds, including 66 palm species alone, along with shrubs, sculptures and other specimens are waiting to be explored.
At the heart of the park, an 18-meter-high water fountain becomes a color show at noon and night. It is best admired from the raised bridge facing the lake and twin towers.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
A popular eco-tourism destination, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is a short 10-minute drive from the city center. The park is home to more than 3,000 birds amongst 200 species – local and foreign. Spanning 20.9 acres, the park has four unique zones, including several that are “free flight” zones. These specific areas allow the birds to fly freely in an aviary that closely resembles their own natural habitat. Considered to hold the largest free flight aviary in the world, the park allows visitors to get up close and personal with an array of tropical bird species.
