Kuala Lumpur – Top Sites to Visit

Kuala Lumpur is a vibrant city famous for its many eating and shopping options. The city also offers a diversity of urban outdoor activities. Some of the city’s most famous attractions are its unique architectural structures, including many internationally recognized locations. While many of Kuala Lumpur’s main landmarks can be found in the city center, there is also plenty of choice found in districts outside it. Authentic sites include those in Chinatown and Kampong Bharu as well as Little India near to the KL Sentral Station.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

Also referred to as the KL Tower, this structure sits 15 stories high at 421– meters. The seventh tallest tower in the world, it is the loftiest of its kind in Malaysia and all Southeast Asia. The KL Tower serves as a telecommunications structure and includes a revolving restaurant that offers stunning panoramic views of the city. Opened in 1996, the tower was featured as a pit stop in the first series of “The Amazing Race”. Visitors can take a special elevator that will whisk them to the observation deck in only 54 seconds. The location is the highest viewpoint currently open to the public in the city of Kuala Lumpur. In addition to annual races that see participants use stairs to reach the top, the tower also acts as the Islamic Falak observatory to see the crescent moon: marking the beginning of Ramadan.

The modern structure has been redeveloped in an art deco style and still maintains a large market with themed divisions. The most notable sections of the market include the Lorong Melayu, Straits Chinese and Lorong India areas. The second floor includes a food court offering mouthwatering street food cuisine. Petronas Twin Towers

These iconic towers are a symbol of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia itself. Also referred to as the KLCC Twin Tower, they consist of two 88-story skyscrapers standing high at 451 meters. The buildings were officially the world’s tallest between 1998-2004. In Malaysia, the record was held until 2021 when Merdeka 118 took the title.

The towers feature a stomach-churning two-story bridge—the highest in the world—connecting the 41st and 42nd floors.
