Bako National Park
Officially opened in 1957, the foamy tropical rainforest of Bako National Park stretches for 27 square kilometers. Within its borders, visitors can find incredible ecosystems existing side by side: mangrove forests, swamps and cliff vegetation, among others. The park is alive with wildlife, including the rare proboscis monkey, a species only found in Borneo. Bako National Park offers many well-maintained trails for hikers of all skill levels. With some hikes lasting the entire day, early morning starts are highly recommended. Bird-watching is another popular activity, with many species spotted throughout the park’s ecosystems.

Kubah National Park
A popular day trip for visitors in Kuching, Kubah National Park’s network of scenic hikes cover an area of 2,230 hectares. Overnight accommodation means visitors can enjoy multiple days in the park. With a selection of beginner and advanced trails,, there is something for everyone. The park’s longest trek, the Summit Trail, vanishes into the canopy for over 5 kilometers and takes a minimum 3.5 hours to complete. Bird-watching is popular, as is observing the reptile species that make an appearance in the park.

Malaysia-China Friendship Park
Known as “Friendship Park” by the locals, it is a memorial that celebrates the friendship between Malaysia and China, as well as the many ethnic Chinese living in the country. In Jalan Song, a residential complex in Kuching, it is only a 30-minute walk from the waterfront district. The park’s most delicate features include a beautiful Chinese Tea Pavilion, as well as a bridge over a pond teeming with fish. A walkway used as a jogging track weaves around the park. A safe place to exercise, it is perfect for evening strolls with the family or a morning jog.
