Langkawi Craft Complex – Heritage Museum and the Customs & Wedding Museum
The Museum of Cultures & Weddings is based within the Langkawi Craft Complex, a building dedicated to the heritage of the island. Traditional wedding ceremonies of Malaysia’s many cultures are central pieces in exhibitions marked by cultural and historical relevance. Exhibits of various wedding outfits, customs, decorations and more are on display for visitors. The Craft Complex itself includes handicrafts and artwork from Malaysian artists. Covering more than 12 hectares of land, it is one of the island’s top sites producing authentic Malaysian crafts and art.

Galeria Perdana
Langkawi’s Galeria Perdana is an ornate museum that displays the awards and gifts received by the former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. Housed in a building shaped by traditional Malaysian architecture, Galeria Perdana preserves items that had special significance to the former Prime Minister. Objects on display include Japanese paintings, Thai wood carvings, crystals, musical instruments, Islamic art and more. Additionally, photographs documenting the Prime Minister’s time spent with various world leaders and dignitaries are on display. One of the larger rooms even displays a classic car collection owned by the Prime Minister, including Malaysian-made models. Worth a visit, the museum depicts the political story of one of Malaysia’s most famous Prime Ministers, as well as his impact on the global stage.

Museum Srikandi Langkawi
Located within Langkawi’s Oriental Village and accessible by cable car, the Srikandi Museum is dedicated to Malaysia’s legendary princesses and ordinary warriors. Admission includes a guided tour where each character’s story unfolds, such as the history, folklore and facts linked to each. Some of the most famous folklore and royal legends honored, include Puteri Gunung Ledang, Tun Fathimah, and even Langkawi’s own Mahsuri. The latter was a real person who became popular in local folklore after her execution and a curse that lasted for generations, in the eyes of many. As a result, Mahsuri’s actual burial place on Langkawi is now a place of interest popular with visitors.
