Thean Hou Temple
Not the namesake temple in Kuala Lumpur, the Langkawi Thean Hou Temple is a Chinese temple opened in 2017. Built to honor the Chinese sea goddess Mazu, the structure opens up into a prayer hall and grand porch. In addition to serving worshippers, it is where the Chinese community hold regular festivals and other culturally relevant activities including around the Mid-Autumn and Chinese New Year Festival periods.

Masjid Al-Hana
In the heart of Kuah, the Al Hana Mosque is next to the Lagenda Park in the town center. The largest mosque in Langkawi, it was built in 1959 and serves as the main location for the island’s Muslim community to perform prayers. The structure includes both Malaysian and Uzbekistan architectural styles. Inside, the walls come to life, etched with various verses of the Koran ,while wood carvings and motifs adorn the central prayer room. Easy-to-reach from the tourist attractions and shopping centers in Kuah, the mosque is popular with visitors.

Wat Koh Wanararm Langkawi
A short 12-minute drive from Kuah, Wot Koh Wanararm is a Thai Buddhist temple set in the mountains. Featuring a statue of the Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin, the temple sees many visitors as a major religious attraction in Langkawi. Founded in 2014, the temple is studded with statues and paintings all the way to the prayer hall. Surrounded by a peaceful garden with a koi pond, a golden Buddha statue and many bright pagodas, it is a temple for meditation, as much as it is for prayer.
